i got out of my cage!

yep.. i actually got out today!  the hubs had his first day off, in over 10 days.  so what did we do you ask?

shopping!

first stop…

so, in our new master plan… purging all of our old stuff, in preference for purchasing all new stuff, [or new to us anyway]  a set of these little beauties are on the top of my list!  idea is to pair them with a rustic wooden table. :)  photo

currently, we own a large sectional sofa.  it’s top of line [bassett] that we purchased for our very large great room, [our house in texas].  then, we got orders to move, and ended up in small townhouse in OH, where it looked like a fat man in toddler’s jeans!  now, we have it shoved into an awkward corner in our GA rental house.. and have realized that it is just too large & has to go.  knowing full well we are on the fast track to paring down, it simply makes more sense to let it go & get something new.  so… this is exactly the sort of sofa i have in mind!  i might change the feet of this one, but i am in love with the white leather, style & scale. photo (2)

no plans to build a kitchen anytime soon.. but this is my DREAM kitchen!  doesn’t have to be all white… but the layout & that island is to DIE for!!  this baby is decked out with all the bells & whistles, aka pull outs, slides, drawers, etc.  i was in organization heaven!!photo (3)

however, i didn’t leave with any of those large purchases.  but i did manage to grab up a few picture frames for my gallery wall & a new summer weight duvet & new duvet cover!  [alvine in red/cream]  :)

we took a much needed tootsie break, & jotted over to the Varsity for lunch.. an Atlanta landmark & must do, according to the locals.  well, we weren’t too impressed with the food, at all.  but the atmosphere was interesting… lol  we can at least say that we’ve been there!http://img1.eyefetch.com/p/fj/499424-e7c89f5c-e20d-4ce3-99f0-6f0e9cdfd7ddl.jpgVarsity.jpg - The Varsity, Atlanta, GA

next, over to west elm.  we browsed the sale table, & ended up leaving w/ this tray [in white].. for a mere $4.96!!  [retail $29.00]Lacquer Wood Trays

finally, we finished off our excursion at the FAB z galleriethis was eye candy, that every self respecting design junkie dreams about!  girls & guys, catalogs do NOT do this place justice!!  hit one up!photo (8) here are some of my faves:photo (7)photo (4) photo (6)photo (5)

we finished up our day at Atlantic Station, splitting a slice of cheesecake.. yum!  on the way home, we stopped off at Ross for a new set of sheets, to go with the new duvet.  500 thread count.. yippee!! [first time laying out the dough for those!]  gotta love good ‘ol ross for a bargain though! [only $35.00!]  but must say that it was tough to even spend that, when we’re used to buying $15.00 sets!

all in all, it was a wonderful day out.  a much needed ‘mindless’ day with the hubs.. just planning & window shopping for the new vision of our retired life.  downsizing is sounding sooooo GOOD!!!

  4. Sounds like a great day! We recently switched from cheapo sheets to a high tread count set and I will never go back! We also got a mattress topper and microfiber blanket and its like sleeping on a cloud. A good night's sleep is definitely worth a little extra money!

  7. Of course I love everything you picked. That love seat is right up my alley. It's amazing what a good day can do for your spirit. I would kill to have a West Elm and Z. Gallerie at my fingertips! I think I'd have to drive 3 1/2 hours to chicago...
